Musician and Marion resident Marcus Monteiro started playing the saxophone at age eleven, consuming and enjoying all music had to offer. He majored in Music Performance and Composition at UMASS Dartmouth and made connections there that allowed him to tour the country twice, as well as play the prestigious Panama Jazz festival with Santi Debriano in 2006. In addition to leading the MonteiroBots, he performs regularly with the Boston Swing, The Grand Army, The Dave Richardson Band, The Neal McCarthy Problem, New Image, and Jazzadelic—to name just a few. For SCSA, the MonteiroBots will perform their special blend of jazz-funk live outdoors. The audience is encouraged to dance, sing and clap along with the insistently kinesthetic groove.
The Oxford Creamery will be on site with the Oxcart for this event! Bring your appetite and support this local small business by enjoying a fresh lobster roll, fries, or ice cream. No alcohol is permitted on town property.
Guests must wear masks unless eating or consuming beverages. Guests should bring their own lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets and will be spaced out according to Massachusetts guidelines for safe social distancing.
