Poetry & Writing
Martin Luther King Jr.
A Poem by Jayilson Debrito
Martin Luther King had a great legacy
believing that we were one
that we're a family
when he died something died in all of us
something died in America
each day i must think
that we must dream the same dream
and build on what was left on all of us
Darkness can not drive out darkness
only light can do that
hate can not drive out hate
only love can do that
cause we will see each other everyday
in the market
in the bus
or even face to face
we need to accept more than deny
cause you are denying life
you are denying faith
faith is taking a step
even though you don't see the whole staircase
